Abstract

During the carbonization of coal in coke oven due to thermal decomposition of coal to a gas, which are trapped in a plastic layer and which give rise to the internal gas pressure. The internal gas pressure in the plastic layer causes the expansion of coal, which is show as a mechanical pressure on the coke oven wall. The generation of high internal gas pressure during carbonization could lead to pushing difficulties such as „stickers” and „heavy pushes”, which occur in the stage of discharging the coke cake out of the coke oven chamber, and would cause severe damage to the coke oven wall. Therefore it is important to watch and regulate the internal gas pressure.
