Abstract

This thesis analyses the determinants of interregional migration between districts in the Czech Republic over the years 1993 - 2012. It also explores the impact of migration on the labour market equilibrium in Czech Republic. The results of the analyses indicate, that migration flows depends primarily on the average wages in the districts. The unemployment rate is not a strong determinant of migration. On the other hand, migration is significantly influenced by two other determinants - the distance between the districts and adjacent districts. Czech people prefer moving to the less distant destination districts. We can conclude that migration flows in the Czech Republic are very low and the Czech people are not willing to migrate. There was no evidence, that migration should influence labour market equilibrium between the districts. Method of the least squares with robust standard errors was used to estimates.
