Abstract
The main goal of this diploma thesis which deals with the topic of “Assessment of the quality of continuously cast slabs depending on the boundary conditions of casting” was to assess the qualitative parameters of continuously cast slabs in Liberty Ostrava, a.s. based on selected boundary conditions. In accordance with the Diploma thesis assignment, the first part of this thesis deals with the fundamental theoretical principles of steel casting on continuous casting machines and summarizes continuously cast slab defects depending on casting temperature or rather steel overheating, casting speed, the chemical composition of steel, electromagnetic stirring and last but not least also the dynamic reduction of the cast slab during its casting (Dynamic Soft Reduction). During an ensuing experiment, a laboratory analysis of the dependence of continuously cast slab central segregation on casting speed and DSR was conducted. We modeled the temperature field of a slab sample in the Dynacs program. The samples were assessed and evaluated according to metallurgical lengths from this program.
