Abstract

This thesis discusses the analysis of inventory management in the production company, Visteon-Autopal, Ltd. and is set in the automotive industry. The main focus is related to improving organization of inventory supply to the plant and improving organization of purchased stock items. Thesis is based on technical bibliography of the issue and on the practical experience gained from the company also.

Theoretical part describes the principles of inventory management and logistics, lean production concept and lean logistics concept. Thesis offers various methods for planning and managing inventory items, including tools and practices that contribute to establish the lean production in the venture and thus to better organization of material supply to the manufacture.

Analytical part characterizes the manufacturing concern; the analysis of the current management process in the company is done by the use of technical experience and technical knowledge in the inventory management. The essential part of this chapter consists of mapping the material flow and the use of inventory management tool practices and software for inventory planning, reporting, etc. In a relation, the problem inventory item is specified and localized, thus a way how to possibly improve supply of such problem stock item.
