The presented diploma thesis deals with the issue of readiness for floods of the town of Hodonin. The introductory part describes the floods in general, their sorting with a description of the basic terminological processes related to flood planning and flood protection. The second part of thesis describes historically significant flood events together with the characteristics of territory. The third part is a specific description of the flood protection system readiness in Hodonin city and determines the locations and causes of the threat of flooding in the city. Conclusion contains suggestions for improving existing flood protection which is also the aim of the thesis.
