Abstract

This thesis deals with the thermal processes at the Heřmanice coal waste dump. Nowadays these processes are the main limiting factor for the usage of this area and without their elimination the fully-fledged utilization is impossible. Spatial measurements had been made for different depths. Assessment of these processes was based on vectorization of the data in ArcGIS environment. All the temperature intervals were quantified spatially and also qualitatively in the direction of thermal activity propagation. Measurements were also undertaken at a specific part of the heap with significant thermal activity, they were aimed at monitoring of the surface temperatures. coal waste dumps, which are the residues of coal mining, cover large areas in the Ostrava-Karviná coal district, which brings with itself a set of specific problems. At the end of this thesis, the thermal activity of Heřmanice coal waste dump is evaluated and the boundary conditions of ignition initiation are described.
