Abstract

This bachelor thesis deals with the life and work of female journalists working in newspapers, magazines and radio in Czechoslovakia between 1918-1938. The goal was to include as many professional female journalists as possible. The first chapter covers the economical, cultural, social and political environments of the selected period and also about print at the time. In chapter two I focused on three chosen journalists – Olga Fastrová, Jožka Jabůrková and Milena Jesenská, analyzing their personal life and work in print. There are short characteristic of other female journalists in the third chapter, 58 women in all. Practical part of work is conceived like a non-fiction magazine. This magazine covers the topics of whole thesis. The goal was successfully met. The women in this thesis were found by studying all available sources; books, radio archives web pages and more. It is my hope that this thesis can be of help and interest for those looking for the same literature in the future.
