Abstract

This thesis deals with the use of dogs to detect banned substances, assessing the financial costs associated with education, training and care of service dogs and last but not least, the reasons why they are being used to detect these animals. The first part is focused on the Police of the Czech Republic and the possibility of the use of dogs in this security corps. Further requirements are portrayed handlers and their dogs. The following part deals with the description of the selected banned substances, their distribution and effects. Risks associated with the detection of these substances in the practical part solved by Ishikawa diagram, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis, Paret's analysis and Lorenz Curve.
