Abstract
The thesis examines the economic, social, and legal consequences of personal debt relief, particularly in the context of the amendment to the Insolvency Law effective from October 2024. The introductory part outlines the theoretical background of insolvency, including the basic characteristics and principles of the process. This is followed by a section focusing on changes in the implementation of debt relief introduced by the legislative amendment, which brings new conditions and approaches to resolving personal insolvency. The subsequent chapter addresses financial literacy, debt prevention, and the risks of modern financial fraud. The practical part analyses and evaluates the results of debt settlement for selected individuals, especially in relation to the assessment of the debtors' financial situation. A SWOT analysis is used to compare the insolvency law before and after the amendment. The work focuses on the identification of positive and negative impacts of the new legislative measures.
