Abstract

This bachelor thesis is focused on the generation of electricity by water power plants. The first part of this work is aimed at the generation of electricity, a description of characteristic parts of hydro power plants, including water turbines. Following part talks about various types of water power plants and their brief classification and description. The work gives an overview of operating water plants in the Czech Republic and theirs characteristics. Next chapter is focused on the evaluation of the production of electric energy regarding to operating, investment cost and economic evaluation. The fifth chapter is devoted to the legislative precautions and the economy. Equally important is the part which describes the environmental aspects of water power plants and its impact on environment. The last chapter is devoted to usable potential of hydro power plants in the Czech Republic.
