Abstract

This thesis deals with physical modelling possibilities of steel flow characteristics, when the impact area is modified. In the thesis there are discussed possibilities of studying liquid steel behaviour in tundish with using numerical and physical modelling methods. Next part is devoted to the verifying these models via steelplant experiments. During working on this thesis, after the theoretical and literary analysis of steel flow in tundish problematics, were realized several experiments. The aim of these experiments was character of the steel flow assessment with using three types of flow modifiers – baffles and four refilling regimes. The experiments were performed in water model of five-strand asymmetrical tundish constructed in a 1:4 geometric scale. The method of permanent concentration change was used and the F-curves were obtained. In the end there are discussed results from studying the F-curves in chosen time moments. On the basis of obtained information from each experiment there is recommended the best variant.
