Abstract
WALACH, Tomáš. Safety study of mechanical resistance of selected materials against knife attack. Ostrava, 2018, VŠB-TU Ostrava. Faculty of Safety Engineering. Supervision of the dissertation Ing. Stanislav Lichorobiec, Ph.D.
This work deals with the resistance of textile materials, leather and other materials against blade breakage. This resistance was tested by the device to ensure that the knife blade would strike a material with a force equal to the adult male’s punch. A record of these exams is part of this work. Selection of knives and blades was influenced by the most common types of knives used in the Czech Republic.
Further, the knives used in the tests are briefly described in this work. The test records are presented here in the form of photographs, together with a table summarizing the results and evaluating these tests. The aim of this work is to help find clothing that is able to withstand a knife attack, especially for use of the general public and security forces.
