Abstract

The task was to explore in laboratory conditions, for the rail steel type R260, high formability and compare the results with the actual conditions of rolling of profile rails 60E1. To detect conditions of high temperature formability is selected two types of exams. To determine the temperature dependence of elongation (thus the formability in terms of material plastic properties) was used uniaxial tension test behind heat to the plastometer GLEEBLE 3800. Using the wedge rolling test to verify the technological formability of the material in the cast state with the raw surface, which could initiate a larger cracks. Plastic properties of the examined steels were completely conforming. The temperature interval in which steel loses all of its plastic properties was narrow. During wedge rolling test created two very small cracks, which were found on the side rough side of the sample. Defects were created just for the sample heated at 1050 °C.
