Abstract
Limestone quarrying in Český kras (Bohemian Karst) area has been known since early times when the first stone dwellings were built.
First, broken limestone was used as building material and for lime production. Subsequently, demand for limestone has been gradually increasing, beginning from the blast-furnace iron manufacture, through today’s building and construction boom, to the thermal power plant desulphurization. Therefore, it is necessary to seek and explore new limestone deposits and open new mines.
The thesis is focused on the deposit opening at Kamenný Vrch within the mining area of Mořina, Beroun district. The deposit opening and limestone quarrying will be provided by the Lomy Mořina, s.r.o. company, a stone aggregate manufacturer and a supplier of high-percentage limestone used for desulphurization of Prunéřov and Tušimice thermal power plants.
The thesis describes the history and limestone exploitation method in Lomy Mořina, s.r.o. from the geological and spatial-orientation point of view. A particular emphasis has been placed on the method of deposit opening and exploitation with regard to the raw ore transportation to the newly-completed milling plant.
In conclusion, the thesis analyzes and evaluates the technical and economic aspects of the deposit opening
