Abstract
This thesis explores possibilities of the numerical modeling for the technology optimization of steel casting. Numerical modeling of metallurgical processes develops very rapidly in recent years and becomes an integral part of any modern steelworks and research institute.
The first chapter describes different ways of steel casting and compares their advantages and disadvantages. The second chapter describes the basic methods of numerical modeling and also the most commonly used simulation programs in metallurgy. The third chapter describes practical application of numerical simulations on several specific cases.
The aim of this work is to show the enormous benefits of numerical simulations. It seems that numerical simulations will become the cornerstone of technological progress in coming years, not only in metallurgy, but also in the motor-car industry, aviation, building industry, etc.
