Abstract

This thesis focuses on the historical and current use of giant machines that are deployed in open pit coal mines in the North Bohemia. In this thesis is presented the chronological development of large-scale, SHP (open pit coal mines in the North Bohemia) description and where the area is situated, and why a pit coal as the most exclusive mineral is mined and its subsequent use in the energy industry. Thesis will explain us the fundamental differences between continuous and cyclical technologies and describes the deployment of their most prominent giant machines. Finally, the thesis describes the various giant machines and their design for convenient use in mining, for which they were designed.
