Abstract

This bachelor thesis deals with the evaluation of the number of members in fire brigade units and groups during on-site operations. The aim of the thesis is to determine theoretically and practically the ideal size of a firefighting squad on first response vehicles. In the first part of the thesis the approach of the Fire Brigade and the German Professional Fire Brigade Berufsfeuerwehr is compared, then the legislative norms which govern the staffing levels of fire brigades are discussed. Next, the most frequent calls of fire departments in our country are selected and the types of calls are chosen to be focused on in the practical part. This part than compares the effectiveness of each squad for the selected types of call-outs using a cost/benefit analysis.
