Abstract

This thesis presents the current knowledge of forging and heat treatment of large steel rotors in Pilsen Steel Company. The theoretical part describes the basic technologies in forging of steel rotors and the influence of forging methods on the structural changes in the material. The thesis includes a schematic analysis of the rotor forging from the material 22CrMoNiWV8-8. The theoretical part also contains a basic description of the steel rotor heat treatment. Experimental research is aimed at optimizing the cooling process after forging for steel from the material 22CrMoNiWV8-8 in Pilsen Steel Company. The primary heat treatment of steel rotors from the material 22CrMoNiWV8-8 has a decisive influence on the required properties of a rotor and ultrasound passing. The rotors made of heat resistant steel are predominantly used as turbine generators which operate at temperatures above 540° C.
