Abstract

This diploma work is focused on actual questions of practical and economically effective exploitation of metallurgical slags, especially slugs resulting from steel production. In the introductory part, reasons for a maximum possible recycling of extrinsic raw materials and waste are analyzed, with emphasis on slag as the most significant component. In the actual core of the study, problems associated with exploitation of slags produced in the VHM corporation’s electrical steel furnaces. In this study, possibilities of new methods of recovery, including the specific technologies of PINMARK and GYPSTREND firms are outlined. Purpose was to determine economic parameters by comparison of expected costs and revenues for three options of the technological exploitation. The final financial effect on one hand represents an economic loss but, it is important to consider fact that it involves an essential by-product; without it steel technology as a whole would not be possible.
