Dlhová kríza v Európskej únii a funkčnosť eurozóny

Abstract

Diploma thesis deals with several issues which have an impact on European Monetary Union. The thesis describes history of European integration and its milestones on the way to common currency – the euro. It evaluates the Eurozone from the perspective of Optimal currency area theory and deals with possible consequences of Eurozone heterogeneity. It describes the Eurozone’s current condition and comments on actual measures which are approved on European level in times of debt crisis – creation of new financial instruments, measures of European Central Bank or signing of Treaty on Stability, Coordination and Governance (TSCG) in the Economic and Monetary Union. The aim of the diploma thesis is to design measures and changes which could help Eurozone to avoid similar crisis situations in future.
