Supervisor Ing. Jana Suchánková, Ph.D. The diploma thesis is focused on the problem of the occurrence of microplastics in fresh waters. The theoretical part of the work is devoted to microplastics from the point of view of their formation, spread and impact on the environment and human health, as well as the possibilities of their detection and analysis. In the thesis, based on the research of standards for water sampling, a sampling methodology is proposed and a sampling protocol is created. The final part of the thesis evaluates the results of the methods used: turbidimetry, SEM and FTIR. 22 water samples of various origins, including bottled water, were analyzed. All samples were subjected to turbidimetry and SEM. Selected samples were analyzed by FTIR. Despite the fact that some microparticles were found in most samples, microplastics were not proven.
