Abstract
Circuit breaker is able to automatically trip a electrical circuit when overloaded, short circuit or when there is overcurrent. Disconnection of contacts leads to creation of current arc, that is pulled to quenshing chamber by magnetic field inside circuit breaker, where it is quenched.
Goal of this paper is to evaluate, how circuit breaker is going to act, if we add external magnetic field to it.
First part of this paper is focused on theoretical analysis of magnetic field and it’s properties, description of circuit breaker and it’s function principle.
Second part is focused on measuring of properties of circuit breaker after adding external magnetic field to it. Plots of measured and calculated values are made, and those results are compared and evaluated in conclusion.
