Abstract

This bachelor thesis provides an overview of the market power of semiconductor devices. The theoretical section provides a description of the static and dynamic parameters of semiconductor devices, which also includes schematic symbols, characteristics, and structural components. There is also a description of the following most used semiconductor devices: diode, thyristor, GTO thyristor, IGCT thyristor, bipolar transistor, FET transistor and IGBT transistor. Finally, there are is an explanation about the accessories for these components, such as, cooling, control, and drive units. The practical section is in the form of research. This section compares the electrical parameters and their possible applications. Also, the most famous manufacturers of semiconductor components are compared with one another, for example ABB, Westcode, Mitsubishi, and Semikron. In conclusion, there is an evaluation and trends in the development of semiconductor devices.
