Abstract
Nowadays, continuous casting technology represents the most widespread method of cast semiproduct production. During solidification and cooling of conticasts segregation phenomena are taking place. They are the cause of their chemical and structural heterogeneity. The bachelor thesis deals with basic principles of continuous casting technology, the most important defects of conticasts and methods of experimental characterization of their chemical and structural heterogeneity. In the experimental part of the thesis results of investigations on chemical and structural heterogeneity of a billet (130 mm) made of S 355 steel are discussed.
