Abstract

This bachelor thesis deals with the study of static and dynamic reduction of the thickness of continuously cast steel slabs, evaluates the influence of the use of the reduction on the central quality of slabs, especially on the centreline segregation. The bachelor thesis is divided into two main parts. The first part describes the technology of continuous casting of steel, the historical development of continuous casting equipment, its construction and its basic division is also described here. In the first part are also characterized external, internal and shape defects of continuously cast semis, especially a brief description of the causes of the formation and the way of removal. Another part of the thesis is devoted to gaining knowledge from Czech and foreign literature. This section deals with the analysis of Czech and foreign publications, various design solutions and static and dynamic soft-reduction installations are discussed here. The influence of casting speed, steel grade and soft-reduction placement or its overall size on static and dynamic reduction results were also evaluated. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to evaluate the individual influences under which static and dynamic soft-reduction can be used to improve the centreline quality.
