Vliv socioekonomických faktorů na výdaje krajů na sport

Abstract

The topic of this thesis is the impact of socioeconomic factors on regional spending on sports. The objective is to conduct a socioeconomic assessment of sports funding in individual regions of the Czech Republic from 2014 to 2024, to evaluate the alignment between the strategic priorities of regional governments and actual grant policies, and to determine the actual impact of socioeconomic factors. To achieve the stated objective, three research questions were formulated. The research was conducted through an analysis of regional development strategies, an evaluation of the dynamics of sports spending, a subsequent comparison, and a verification of the relationship using Pearson’s correlation coefficient. To ensure valid results, the analysis is divided into a model encompassing all regions of the Czech Republic and a model adjusted for the specific influence of the capital city of Prague. The findings demonstrate that support for sports in the regions is inconsistent and reflects sporadic investment cycles or local political priorities rather than clearly defined strategic goals. The study concludes by formulating recommendations for the systemic stabilization of funding, the methodological standardization of data, and the strengthening of the strategic importance of sports in regional policy.
