Abstract
This Master thesis is focused on optoelectronics. Specifically, it deals with the passive optical network (PON), with a target on the gigabit ethernet passive optical network (GePON). The aim is to introduce to the readers the problems of such networks and their applications.
Aftere describing the various technologies, the thesis is then dealing with GePON technology only. Through explaining design for scenarios come to the practical part. It is implemented in fourteen different networks involved in the programming environment Optiwave 9.0 considering the value of practice. Another point is the realization of the same network in the laboratory.
The last part is devoted to the results and analysis of simulated and real network design GEPON. The conclusion is based on the results evaluated the difference between the design and operation of networks.
