Abstract

The diploma thesis is focused on implementation of the 5S methodology for a selected operation of the ArcelorMittal Ostrava a.s., metallurgical company. The aim is to describe implementation of the 5S principles, to compare and evaluate the benefits of the method introduction and to propose possible solutions leading to improvement of the state-of-the-art. In the first part theoretical resources to the problematic together with a general description of the lean manufacturing, the Kaizen philosophy and the 5S principles are elaborated on the basis of findings acquired from scientific literature. The practical section consists of a presentation of the metallurgical company, implementation of the 5S method for a selected workplace and evaluation, proposals and recommendations for improvements.
