NATECH Risk Assessment in the Process Industries

Abstract

This thesis will be focused at the Natech risk assessment in the process industries, aiming to improve our insight of the complicated interactions among natural hazards and industrial systems. The process industries such as chemical manufacturing, oil and gas refinery etc., which are specifically susceptible to the effects of natural disasters because of their reliance on complex and interconnected technological methods. With the literature evaluation and analysis, this study will discover the different factors that make a contribution to the prevalence and severity of natech accident and interdependencies among natural hazards, which include earthquakes, floods, storms etc., and also the crucial infrastructures and methods of the process industries. The study will shed more insight at the capacity vulnerabilities and gaps in present risk control techniques. The study is to broaden a scientific framework for assessing natech hazards, become aware of and compare the important signs of threat, and mitigating those risks.
