Abstract

This master’s thesis deals with the design and implementation of a laboratory workstation for a regulated electric drive with an induction motor, operated via an HMI panel. The drive is controlled using the SINAMICS S120 system, while visualization is provided by the SIMATIC HMI TP700 Comfort industrial touch panel. The thesis analyzes the possibilities of controlling frequency converters by higher-level control systems, with a particular focus on the method of direct communication between the HMI panel and the drive control unit via S7 communication without the use of a PLC. The practical part includes the implementation of the control logic using free function blocks, configuration of the STO safety function, development of the user interface in the TIA Portal WinCC environment, and a description of modifications made to the existing laboratory workstation. The functionality of the workstation was verified through a series of measurements of drive operating variables, and the obtained results were compared with theoretical assumptions. The appendices of this thesis include the procedure for configuring the S120 drive system and the source projects developed as part of this thesis.
