Abstract
This work provides preview into the issue of modern meters and their deployment in the sector of retail customers in perspective of distribution company. It provides the basic characteristics of modern meters and their features, options of data reading and processing. The aim is to highlight the positive features and benefits of deploying smart meters, both for customers and for the distribution system, and highlight those, that can be already fully used.
