Abstract
The main objective of this thesis is to define the labour market in 13 counties and the capital city of Prague in the Czech Republic in 1997 - 2010. One of the possible options for exploring the labour market is through Beveridge curve. The theoretical Beveridge curve assumes a negative relationship between unemployment and vacancy rates. To estimate regional Beveridge curves were used econometric techniques - multivariate linear regression analysis and modeling of SUR. The basic model has been modified through the study of spatial fixed effects and the effects of cyclical and structural factors were also monitored of through other qualitative variables.
The results show that Beveridge curve is detrimental in the following regions: South Moravia, Moravia-Silesia, Olomouc, Pardubice, Plzen and Central Bohemia. In other regions there are positive results of observation. It was also found that cyclical factors do not affect the Beveridge curve relationship, with the exception of South Bohemia and Pardubice Region. Structural factors within the meaning of lagged values of vacancy rates have a positive impact on relations in Beveridge curve for all regions. The results obtained are consistent with similar empirical studies.
