Abstract
The aim of this thesis is a summary and comparison of issues especially the operation of industrial zones as an instrument of national and regional policy in the Czech Republic and Poland.
The thesis is divided into three basic chapters. In the first chapter there is introduced the role of industrial zones in the globalized economy. Emphasis is placed primarily on the European Union and its promotion of industrial zones by OP Enterprise and Innovation. The second part of the thesis is concentrated on the industrial zones and their role in the economic development of the Czech Republic and there is described the history of these zones, their advantages and disadvantages as well as various programs of their support in the Czech Republic. Significant zones in the city of Ostrava are described in this part. The third chapter describes the provision of public support for the development of industrial zones in the Czech Republic, their funding from both the state and the regions or cities. It is namely investment stimuli which are offered by regions and cities to attract foreign direct investment. The institutions working in this field are olso included. A very important part of this chapter is also an outline of the industrial zones problems in Poland and a comparison of their functioning as an instrument of national and regional policy in the Czech Republic.
