Abstract

This bachelor thesis deals with vibration sensor based on fiber Bragg gratings. The use of fiber Bragg gratings in the field of sensing, where they in contrast to often massive and single purpose classical sensors are used especially due to their universality, small size and possibility to conduct multiple measurements with just one sensor. In this thesis the theory behind fiber Bragg gratings, their inscription and principle of sensing is described. The principle of the vibration sensor, which is interrogated by a distributed feedback laser used in the experiment is also described in the thesis. The sources for optical communications and theory behind semiconductor lasers especially distributed feedback lasers are following. In the practical part of the thesis the experimental measurement of the frequency range of the fiber Bragg grating based sensor and evaluation of the result is concucted.
