Abstract

In its first part, the bachelor thesis is devoted to the causes of high SO2 emissions in the air in the Czech Republic in the second half of the twentieth century. Furthermore it discusses precautions to reduce the concentration of sulfur dioxide in the atmosphere. More specifically, the thesis deals with tools which reduce SO2 in the air by means of technological precautions for large sources of pollution, mainly coal-powered power plants and thermal power plants. It is mainly the desulphurisation of flue gases by various methods. The text describesb wet, semi-dry and dry desulphurization method, which are used in the Czech Republic. In the conclusion of the thesis is discussed by-products of energy produced by various methods of flue gas desulphurisation.
