Abstract
This thesis presents the current knowledge of forging and heat treatment of steel rolls. Theoretical analysis is particularly focused on the description of technologies related to the forging and heat treatment of steel rolls, and the course of structural changes that occur at this manufacturing method. The theoretical part of the thesis also includes a basic description of formability tests. Experimental research is then focused on description of formability test performance and evaluation of DHQ1 and DHQ3-M materials. These steel grades represent the most common material types from which Pilsen Steel s.r.o. manufactures steel rolls. Within the experimental part, the issue of the heat treatment of referred steel grades is partially being solved. The purpose of the whole thesis is to assess the optimization possibilities of existing forging process and heat treatment of steel rolls in Pilsen Steel s.r.o. based on theoretical and experimental findings.
