Abstract

This thesis deals with the issue of protection of electrical installations against arc faults. The aim was to create a laboratory panel that allows to generate an arc fault on demand and to measure electrical quantities in the circuit so that the arc characteristic features can be observed in detail. In the practical part, an electric arc in combination with different loads was described and the pattern according to which commercially available arc fault detection devices detect the fault was observed. Finally, arc fault detection devices from three different manufacturers are compared.
