Abstract

The bachelor thesis is focused on the use of FEMS electromagnetic stirrer and soft- reduction technology to improve the internal quality of circular cross-section blocks. The introductory part characterizes the continuous casting equipment and main parts. The solidification of steel during casting is briefly described here. This part is followed by a description of internal and external defects that occur during casting. The emergence of segregation is discussed more significantly here. The next part characterizes the FEMS electromagnetic mixer and soft-reduction technology. The last part follows, in which there is an analysis of foreign articles dealing with the issue. Attempts to improve the internal qualityof circular cross-section blocks using the two technologies are discussed in detail. Finally, a summary of the results of operational experiments is performed.
