Abstract
This Ph.D. thesis was supported by the project with no. SP/2010117 and is aimed at verifying the possibilities of pyrolysis and gasification dealing with certain types of waste. The work is divided into several parts. In the introduction chapters, the literature search was made from domestic and foreign sources. The work presents a brief description of some existing pyrolysis, gasification or combined units that have been implemented as operating or at least pilot units. The attention is paid to the waste management system.
In the experimental part of my dissertation, the preparation of samples of selected types of waste materials is presented (particularly from agriculture, food and pharmaceutical industries). The samples are prepared either for purposes of analytical identification or for realizing the series of experiments on built-up thermal unit, in reducing conditions. Treated samples were subjected to analytical identification of selected thermochemical characteristics affecting the thermal treatment processes. After designing the laboratory procedure, the verification of reducing thermal methods in a laboratory scale was made. The end products of pyrolysis and gasification (gas, solid and liquid product) were subjected to available analyzes.
The evaluation of experimental part and defining the benefits of possible use of pyrolysis and gasification technologies for processing of agricultural, food and pharmaceutical waste is described in the conclusion.
The presented results were published in national and international conferences and in scientific journals.
