Abstract

This thesis deals with observing of stability of non-polar organic compounds after their sorption in organically modified clay minerals. Vermiculite and montmorillonite modified with hexadecyltrimethylammonium (HDTMA) and hexadecylpyridinium (HDP) cations were used as representatives of organoclays. All prepared organoclays were consequently used for sorption of naphthalene vapor. For desorption of naphthalene and regeneration of used organoclays, methods of thermal desorption and chemical extraction was used. Organoclay stability was also studied for pure organically modified forms of vermiculite and montmorillonite using thermal gravimetry. These forms were also used for ecotoxicity testing, which was to prove the safety of organoclays deposited in the landfill, if there is not any possibility of regeneration process.
