Abstract

For my bachelor thesis I have chosen the topic of the ,,European Union and trade relations with the African, Caribbean and Pacific states. The aim of this thesis is closer to the European Union from the perspective of the trade and define the trade policy of the European Union to the African, Caribbean and Pacific states. Analyze how the mutual trade relations have evolved and what is their commodity structure. Further analyze the mutual trade relations between the European Union, countries in the region of South Africa and the existing integration groupings. It also aims to bring the importance of the trade relations for both participants. Bachelor´s thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter deals with the characteristics of foreign trade, what factors affect it, what are the functions and define definitions of the foreign trade policy and its instruments. The following chapter is devoted to trade policy of the European Union and the specifics of the African, Caribbean and Pacific states. I focused first on the position of the European Union as a trader. After that I defined the African, Caribbean and Pacific states, and particularly described the mutual economic relations between the European Union and the African, Caribbean and Pacific states and defined trade between these partners. In the last chapter I have dealt with the analysis of the trade relations between the European Union and Southern Africa. What is the commodity structure of the exports and imports between the European Union and Southern Africa, the trend in trade between the European Union and integration groupings in the region and how the European Union acceding to certain countries of the region of South Africa, which ranks among the least developed countries in the world.
