Abstract
PhD thesis deals with the use of modern communication technologies, architectures and standards, both in operational hydrology as well as for communication and data exchange between different organizations dealing with the management of water resources and hydrology in general. In the introduction the subject of work is defined as well as thesis main goals. The following chapter, which introduces readers to the projects that contributed to the overall result of the work, the issue of operational hydrology at a general level and state of the problem outside the Republic.
The subject of the next chapter is a critical analysis of operational hydrology in CR, focusing both on technical and procedural aspects of the problem.
Another chapter presents a service-oriented architecture technology as a key element of the proposed concept, which follows the part dealing with the proposal of the very architecture of a distributed hydrological information system.
The final chapter is devoted to showing the implementation of the proposed concept and its real use as a strategic solutions in an environment of state-owned enterprise management of Vltava River catchment.
