Abstract
DOLÁK, Jan. Evaluating the effectiveness of a new type of weapon using non-lethal projectiles. Ostrava, 2025. Diploma thesis, Ostrava: VSB – TU Ostrava, Faculty of Safety Engineering.
The thesis deals with over-the-counter non-lethal weapons and T4E ammunition from UMAREX. The first part of the thesis focuses on the current legal regulations and the basic principles of weapons and ammunition. It also includes an analysis of fundamental ballistics. A separate chapter is dedicated to different types of T4E weapons and ammunition. The main weapon used in the study, the UMAREX T4E TR 50 revolver, is described in detail. In the experimental part, ballistic measurements were conducted on a ballistic test line. Seven types of T4E projectiles and two types of conventional non-lethal .38 Special caliber projectiles for revolvers were used during the tests. The collected data was used to evaluate the effectiveness of T4E projectiles and compare them with traditional non-lethal ammunition. The conclusion of the thesis includes safety rules for handling T4E weapons and an assessment of their real-world application.
