Abstract

The aim of this Thesis is to optimize the operation of a small hydropower plant located on Odra River in Ostrava, Zabreh. The first part of this Thesis summarizes the technology of electricity production in small hydropower plants and describes devices used in today's SHPP. The end of the first part evaluates the current legislation regarding the SHPP project and its operation. The second part of this Thesis describes the initial condition of a particular SHPP. The following third part assesses deficiencies occurring during the SHPP extended operation which can cause SHPP poor performance and therefore lower economic profit. The fourth part focuses on the selection of optimal variant for SHPP efficiency. The problem has been solved by a mechanical device which made the weir higher. The fifth and last part evaluates the whole project from the economic point of view, estimates electricity production with the proposed solution, and last compares it with the current condition.
