Abstract

This bachelor thesis deals with the design and implementation of a portable autonomous device for capturing and analyzing traffic in a Wi-Fi network. The aim was to create a functional solution capable of operating without external power supply and cabling, while enabling the collection of traffic data, their storage, and clear visualization. The proposed device consists of a MikroTik LtAP mini LTE kit router, a Raspberry Pi 5 microcomputer, and an external power source. Traffic data collection is implemented using Traffic Flow export in IPFIX format to the nfacctd tool; the data are subsequently stored in a PostgreSQL database and visualized in Grafana. The solution also includes two custom programs for enriching data with geolocation information and for maintaining records of currently and historically connected client devices. The thesis describes the configuration of individual components, the system data flow, and the use of WireGuard VPN and firewall rules. The result is a functional proof-of-concept device that enables basic Wi-Fi traffic monitoring.
