Abstract
The work summarizes the results of the study of variscan volcanites in the outcrop area of the Moravian-Silesian culm basin. The presence of two genetically independent generations of magmatites has been confirmed here. The older, Upper Devonian - Lower Carboniferous is usually intimately associated with the volcanism of pre-flysch formations and is represented by metamorphosed basic members of the spilite-keratophyre association, especially metadolerites and strongly metamorphosed volcanites and volcanoclastics of the greenschists character. The second, Upper Carboniferous - Lower Permian, is represented by postmetamorphic and posttectonic intrusions of lamprophyres and similar rocks (including Janov’s basites and igneous rock from Hlubočky). The key factor of their petrographic and geochemical variability is probably the different degree of crustal contamination of the parental magma of mantle character, which is related to the degree of Variscan reactivation of the pre-Variscan fundament.
