Návrh geografického informačního systému pro odbor školství, mládeže a sportu Moravskoslezského kraje

Abstract

The objective of this thesis is to design the Geographic Information System for the School and Sport Department of the Moravian-Silesian Municipality. The Province Governor’s Office decided to cooperate with the students of the VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava in order to analyze the needs of introducing, the way of using and implementing some of the GIS tasks.

The first part of the thesis includes the analysis of the extent of using specific GIS tasks in the School and Sport Department, while in the second part one can find the sample project of GIS designed to meet the needs of the Department. The last part of the thesis is concerned with the implementation of the GIS tasks, which can be supervised by this system.

The part of the thesis that includes the sample project of using GIS in the School and Sport Department can be helpful in creating the Geographical Information System in the future. At the present moment the GIS does not exist in this department.
