Abstract
This thesis deals with an option for construction modifications to the secondary lining in the Bancarevo tunnel (Serbia) in its cut and cover section. Klimkovice tunnel (Czech Republic), having undergone a similar local construction solution, is used as an example here. The following part of the text is dedicated to the current state of the Bancarevo tunnel and describes it as presented in the project's original documentation. The next chapter includes a suggestion for optimizing the tunnel using Klimkovice tunnel as an example. This solution is then compared with the original design, from a bearing capacity perspective, using GEO5 software, which features a Finite element method for such calculation. The conclusion of this paper contains the final evaluation of the result and a financial assessment for the suggested construction alteration.
