Abstract

This diploma thesis focuses on the analysis of the environmental risks associated with firewater and innovative possibilities for its remediation using biochar-based sorbents. The first part of the thesis maps the sources of contamination and the legislative requirements for managing this type of wastewater. The core of the research is the experimental preparation and modification of composite carbon sorbents, followed by a physicochemical and ecotoxicological evaluation of their purification efficiency. The measured data then serve as a basis for evaluating the biological safety of the treated water and for proposing applicable technological measures. The main aim of the thesis is to determine the toxicity of real firewater samples, test the efficiency of targeted biochar modifications in the adsorption process, and propose safe scenarios for the reuse of this water.
