Abstract

The aim of this Bachelor’s degree thesis is the analysis of issues related to advertising and sponsorship in baseball clubs in the Czech Republic. The results of a questionnaire, which has been sent to several baseball club representatives in the Czech Republic, have shown that baseball does not appear attractive for Czech spectators and that match attendance is nowhere near the average number reached by more attractive European leagues or the famous Major League Baseball. Revenue generated from advertising and sponsorship alone is not a sufficient source of income for clubs and most clubs lack a dedicated person who would look for sponsors and advertising partners. The biggest obstacles that hinder the increase of sponsorship and advertising partners are low popularity and lack of knowledge of baseball rules, as well as current economic situation and the competition of more popular sports. On the other hand we need to note that member base of baseball players has been increasing from year to year and we may thus assume, that both number of spectators and relating number of sponsors interested in this sport is also on an increase.
